Discussing National Change with the Prime Minister

The nation of Lesotho is being reached for Christ by alumnus Sebonomoea Ratabane Khoase.

Empowered by prayer and the confidence acquired from the Haggai Institute training, alumnus Sebonomoea Ratabane Khoase met with the Prime Minister of Lesotho, Pakaliktha Mosisili, who is Head of Government and Minister of Defense in the mountainous kingdom.

Describing the meeting, the alumnus – who has recently been elevated to the position of Archbishop – says, “I shared with him my vision for the economic development of Lesotho, using the Gospel as a catalyst. He listened to my conviction that my country, though small in size, economy and population, can be turned around economically in a short space of time if only our people would place their trust in the Lord Jesus Christ.”

As Archbishop, alumnus Sebonomoea has been assigned the role of national leadership of indigenous churches in Lesotho. “My chief responsibility is to unite believers in the core message of the Bible, with emphasis on evangelism and discipleship.” Lesotho is by and large a Christian country; however, a majority of the people are nominal Christians.

Far from being discouraged by that fact, Sebonomoea Khoase is filled with a sense of purpose and mission. “My national radio station is reaching almost every household in Lesotho and the neighboring South Africa,” he says joyfully, and adds, “We have designed our programs in a way that makes it possible to teach, preach and disciple between secular programs 24/7”

Haggai Institute, he says, imparted to him a deeper understanding of vision, mission and goals. “On my return to my country, I found that the government was discouraging farmers from producing sorghum and corn, which are the country’s staple crops. Like Elijah, Sebonomoea placed his trust in the Lord. “With Ecclesiastes 11 as my theme, I began to talk to the farmers, prayed for and with them. They came up with a hundredfold harvest. Many farmers have begun to turn to God in awe.”

Lesotho is rich in platinum, oil, uranium, gold and diamonds. Currently, the Archbishop is engaged in the task of organizing the mountainous kingdom’s first Investment Forum at which local and foreign experts will exchange ideas on how Lesotho can be developed to its best potential.

What keeps him on track is the leadership training he received at H.I..
