The Only Strong Pillar

If alumna Soraya Maria Jackson Abella from Nicaragua had to put her life’s learning in one sentence, this is what it would be: “Love everybody but trust only in the Lord.”

I must confess that I still struggle with the language, but at Haggai Institute I learnt to keep at it, for the more I will, the more I will be able to. After all, English is the global language.

On returning from the seminar, I discovered that I now evaluate all I do for God’s Kingdom according to the standards in evangelism set by Haggai Institute. It was awesome to see so many sisters from several nations having just one focus – Jesus. It renewed my desire to serve Him with all my heart.

Because I committed my life to the Lord Jesus Christ, my friends and all the members of my biological family turned their backs on me. But God prepared me for this. While I was at H.I., He gave me assurance from I John 4:4, that He would be my provider and my strength. He did not let me down.

On returning from the seminar, I tended to get discouraged because of wondering how I would be able to achieve my goals. I was glad I could keep in touch with sister participants for they encouraged me, and soon there was a breakthrough. I got a better job. Further, the Spirit of God led my husband and me to an interdenominational church. When the pastor told us that God has given him a vision regarding our role in the church, our joy knew no bounds. Now we are actively involved in evangelism and church activity; I am on the way to fulfilling the pledge I made to Haggai Institute. I have also begun to teach and preach in small churches.

The biggest miracle of all was when my biological family came back into my life. Gradually, the friends, too, are reconnecting.
