If it were not for the Haggai Institute training, I would have still been nurturing sheer desire.
From the moment I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal savior, I felt consumed with a longing to train other Christians to be true disciples of Christ, but I had no concrete idea of how to go about it. Then, through the grace of God, I got invited to Haggai Institute’s international seminar at Maui and I obtained the know-how of evangelism. It is incredible but I feel much more confident now that I have resources and know how to reach people effectively.
A former chaplain of the United State Senate once said that “people are not particularly interested in our ideas; they are interested in our experiences.” He is spot on. The young people of today are not looking for theories but scouting around for convictions. They know how to penetrate our rhetoric in order to discover what is the reality of our lives.
Our attitudes and behavior patterns become our lifestyle witness. This was my “takeaway” from the Haggai Institute seminar. This also what I seek to convey to eager participants who come to my teaching sessions.
On my return, in August 2008, I organized a Christian retreat for the leaders of the next generation. It was well-received and we were able to conduct the second seminar – in March 2009.
We had the third seminar recently. Now I have tested and am sure of my calling.
Right through 2010, I plan to organize discipleship meetings that will not be only for this congregation but for all Christians who want to be used by God.
Freely we have received, freely we need to give.
